Jeff, Katey and I came over to Leavenworth for the weekend. What a fun day we had today. We are staying at a condo at Wapato Point in Chelan. It is a beautiful place. Hardly any people as this is actually a summer resort. But it is beautiful and what a beautiful day we had today, sun shining and all. Only thing that would have been better would be if we had snow.
Went into town and go there about 11:00. Found a place to have a bratwurst for Jeff and Katey. (it is a bavarian village town) so you have to have one. Did some shopping, saw St. Nicholas, Father Christmas and Santa Claus arrive by horse drawn carriage at noon. Spent the rest of the afternoon looking at stores and people watching. One of the big things here is to get a hat from the Hat Shop. It is crazy, line was huge. We didn't get one but it sounded like lots of people come here every year, stand in line and get a new hat to wear for the village lighting.
They had a program going on with singing and dancing all afternoon. At 4 they started the main program which lead up to the lighting of the trees, and the street lights and the buildings. It was so fun to be here. You can watch it online at Leavenworth.com but it is so much better to actually be here. I will post some pictures once we get back.
